Keto Aid

What is Keto-Aid?
Keto-Aid is an oral energy supplement designed to help prevent ketosis in dairy cows / cattle and sheep.

Ketosis is a metabolic disorder that can occur around calving and lambing when the energy demand of giving birth & producing milk is exceeded by the energy input. Commonly seen in overweight animals and animals with poor appetites, ketotic animals often have low blood glucose levels and high ketone bodies as they mobilize large amounts of body fat to try and support the increased energy demand at birth.

Keto-Aid contains high levels of mono-propylene glycol (MPG) which is quickly converted into glucose. Research has found that blood glucose levels will begin to rise within 30 minutes of giving MPG and will stay elevated for up to 8 hours.

Ketone bodies are produced as a result of the liver being unable to process the high levels of fat being mobilized to convert into energy. To help the fat / energy conversion cycle, choline chloride is included in Keto -Aid as it is required in the metabolism of fat and can help in reducing the severity of ketosis.

Cobalt is believed to help stimulate appetite and is used by rumen bacteria to produce Vitamin B12. Magnesium Pidolate provides readily available magnesium which is used in enzyme reactions and metabolic pathways. EDDI is an organic iodine source for thyroid function.
